About The Event
The Brisbane German Language School (BGLS) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to German language education and cultural engagement in Queensland. For many years, BGLS has brought the community together through language learning, cultural activities and the much-loved Laternenfest, one of Brisbane's largest German community events.
While Laternenfest (lantern festival) will not take place in 2026, BGLS didn't want families and lantern lovers to miss out entirely. As part of Brisbane German Week, the school invites the community to a special Lantern Walk - Laternenlauf - a smaller, relaxed celebration of this cherished German tradition.
Bring your lantern, enjoy an evening of music, culture and community, and help keep the spirit of Laternenfest shining until its return.
