"Ruhetag" - Day of Rest

Ruhetag means a day off, day of rest, a day where shops or restaurants are closed. In Germany, every Sunday is a Ruhetag and you’re supposed to keep it down – by law. 😉

Today is our Ruhetag, meaning quiet day. Germans generally take that literally. Ruhetage tend to be a bit quieter than the other days. People get up late, go to church, do things with the family, do some yard work or go about their hobbies and generally just take it easy. On a Ruhetag, a shop or store or restaurant is closed.
