This tradition has been celebrated at the Oktoberfest in Munich for two centuries, with the city’s Lord Mayor tapping the first keg of Bier and offering the first stein poured to the Head of State, announcing “O’zapft is” {“It is tapped”}.

Word is, that Australia’s very first Oktoberfest ever celebrated was right here in Brisbane at the German Club over five DECADES ago! And that is why it is called THE ORIGINAL OKTOBERFEST! Come and enjoy the Biergarten atmosphere provided just for you this month. Indulge in traditional Bavarian cuisine, imported German beers and the Club’s own Oktoberfest band.
